Michelle A. Bisbee

Michelle A Bisbee is the Associate Professor of Scenic Design at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, a freelance Scenic Designer, and Artisan. Michelle received her MFA in Scenic Design from the University of Arizona and her BFA in Technical Theatre from Kent State University. Prior to joining UH, Michelle worked as faculty, designer, and artisan at Trinity University, University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and Part-time Instructor and Guest artist at Kent State University. She has worked professionally across the U.S. in roles such as Scenic Designer, Properties Master, and Artisan, Scenic Artist, fabricator, restoration, and swing technician for companies such as the Music Theatre of Wichita, University of Michigan, Utah Shakespearean Festival, The Henry Ford Museum, as well as many others. She spent just shy of three years in Las Vegas working for Cirque du Soleil as Assistant Head of Props on the Beatles LOVE and Properties and Puppets Technician on KA. There she learned techniques in molding, casting, documentation, and strengthened her interdepartmental teamwork. Michelle’s other full-time job is being a very proud mother of two wonderful girls.
